Urban Environments in Transition
Number of people taking this action: 50-250
September 25, 2018 - 7:30 pm - Uccle, Brussels.
The ability of our cities to adapt to climate change and reduce their impact on the environment has become an issue on which our quality of life depends. The temperature records reached this summer and the pollution peaks that we experienced this winter demonstrate the need for the next municipal administrations to act decisively and permanently.
The sustainability of urban environments is the 11th Sustainable Development Goal of the United Nations (SDG), adopted by the General Assembly on 25 September 2015. On this anniversary of the adoption of the SDGs, Ecolo-Groen organizes a meeting with some candidates of the Ecolo-Groen lists from Uccle and Ixelles and representatives of the European institutions.
This event will be an opportunity for candidates to municipal councils to present the results already achieved and future initiatives in terms of urban ecological transition. A representative of the European institutions will present the parliamentary initiatives on the subject by introducing the various legislative and financial instruments available for municipal administrations.
Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with candidates and European representatives by sharing a "walking dinner" until 21:30.Participants to the event will be invited through a personal e-mail. In addition, a letter will be sent in our Municipality informing interested citizens about the event, they will need to confirm their participation to attend.
