The Green Building Council Brazil (GBC Brazil) is a non-governmental organization that aims to foster the sustainable construction industry in the country. For this, GBC Brasil has a working partnership with the government and companies; and also in the technical training of professionals; and dissemination of practices of process certification of enterprises.
When the NGO arrived in the country in 2007, the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification began to be implemented in Brazil and today it has significant growth in the sector with more than 500 projects already certified and another 1300 registered in search of the seal. This last number takes Brazil to fourth place in the world ranking of sustainable buildings.
GBC has approximately 800 member companies that support the organization's activities for engaging or seeking to engage in the sustainable construction market, either by adopting green building practices at its facilities or by providing efficient and responsible materials and services socio-environmental point of view.
