About Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK)

Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK)- a national NGO working in 11 districts in Bangladesh. GUK started its journey in 1985 and working to strengthen the leadership quality of grassroots poor, empowerment of women, ensuring employment and livelihood of poor and extreme poor, disaster management, health and sanitation, access to local resources, inclusive finance, promoting low carbon development by providing alternative energy, primary education etc. Recently we have expanded our work in Rohingya Refugee camp where a million Rohingya people have fled violence in Myanmar to seek refuge across the border in Bangladesh. This unprecedented number of refugees, of whom more than half are children, has caused a large-scale humanitarian crisis. Over the years, through continuous and sincere efforts the organization has gained very well reputation and acceptance and built good relationship with programme participants, community people, local administration, local government institutions and other relevant stakeholder in its working areas.
