The journey of Kazi Shahid Foundation (KSF) began in 2005 as a dairy co-op, involving local 25 women who were given a cow each to supply dung for the Kazi Kazi Tea Estate (KKTE), the 1st internationally certified organic tea garden. Members pay back not in cash, but with milk and dung. The ownership of the cow and the calves it breads are transferred to the women. This innovative formula ensures the steady supply of manure as bio-fertilizer for the expanding tea garden, while each co-op member receives a value-producing asset that, with proper care, would increase household income and wealth.
KSF also facilitates an organic tea cooperative, organic vegetable farming, biogas and bio-fertilizer program, and pre-primary education program. Recently, KSF has expanded its operation to Sirajganj and Savar. KSF strongly believes in consistent and sustainable growth, guided by the core value: “We grow in harmony with nature and society.”
