Vikash, established in 1986, is a leading Non-Government Organization in Odisha, working as a developmental facilitator to build the capacity of communities to participate in the process of sustainable development. In the entire journey of Vikash, it is working for the holistic development of the marginalized sections of the society like rural poor, urban slum dwellers and indigenous community. Vikash in the beginning started working for the Leprosy affected people for their rehabilitation and support services. After 1996, Vikash stress on inclusive development of disabled people. Keeping in view of this, Vikash has established a model for Community Based Rehabilitation of disabled people in various parts of Odisha. After supper cyclone in 1999, Vikash has been focusing on Sustainable livelihood for the marginalized communities across the state. Citizens’ action to protect livelihood is one of the mandates of Vikash. It facilitates community empowerment process for food security and sustainable NRM.
