Reverie Of The Future

All that is eternal in me, Welcomes the wonder of this day. May my mind come alive today To the invisible geography, that invites me to new frontiers, To break the dead shell of yesterdays mistakes, to risk being disturbed and changed. May I live this day, compassionate of heart, Clear in work, gracious in awareness. Courageous in thought, generous in love and hopeful in a reality of growth. Earth is our only home, and with every waking day of our existence. We possess the power to flip the script on climate change.

Seeds Of Change

Centennial Square, Dakar in the year 2043. Word has it that years prior, two very important seeds in health and education were planted amongst the community, slowly flourishing into full bloom of prosperity and achievement; Unbeknownst to the rest of the world, something perceived as so small was actually the key to a brighter future.

I look at the Eiffel Tower and i am home

In this project, the beautiful reflections in the sea also serve as a reminder of the paradox of water as both enchanting and dangerous. With the threat of rising sea levels from global warming, Paris and other cities face a future where water can be both a source of beauty and a danger to its citizens. Through the reflections captured in my work, I aim to raise awareness about these critical issues and the need for action to create a more sustainable future for all.

Some Childhoods, man...

This piece centers around childhood trauma and healing from it. This collection is inspired by the Japanese art and philosophy of Kintsugi (golden joinery) in which broken objects are repaired with lacquer and gold, highlighting the breakage and making the weak parts stronger. As a philosophy, it treats brokenness as something to be highlighted instead of hidden.

Mola African Elephant

African elephants are the largest land animals and one of the most intelligent animals on Earth. Known for their protectiveness, socialization, and matriarchal societies, they live in large family groups for their entire lives, being the oldest female of the herd their leader, generally. I can relate to that, as a single mother of teen twins, leading my household.

She’s Trying Not To Think About It

I’ve tried, I’ve trained myself so many times. Today it worked, I saw nothing, I felt nothing, I breathed nothing and felt empty but wholesome at the same time. I stopped thinking about the bad or the good, I closed my eyes and I finally smiled.

Unplanned

The population of my hometown Mbour has nearly quadrupled in my lifetime. The central market now engulfs a majority of the neighbourhood where I grew up; the city is full of construction sites; access to the beach has become restricted. This is an expected outcome of economic development, but I fear for my hometown and its vulnerability to a retaliating planet.

Linda Dounia

Focus

Through simple poetic compositions, my art encourages the viewer to pause, observe, and reflect on the relationship between the environment and ourselves. The concept of ‘visual silence’ is a recurring theme in my work, conveying the fragility of our reality that can easily be disrupted. I strive to emphasize the need to protect and preserve our planet’s delicate ecosystems.

Standard Blues

Their work explores surreality, expressivity and attention to emotion, and uses maximalism and a naive approach to describe the world around them. Color, the expressiveness of line, and the brut treatment of form mark their work, looking for a reality in the unreal, in dreams and unplaces. Their work uses mixed media and seeks resources from past traumas both individually and socially to explore the unseen world that everyone experiences.

MetaEpica #460

MetaEpica NFT collection, created by artist Marina Núñez, narrates the evolution of relationship between human and nature. A future in which heroes are neither those involved in battles nor with super powers, but those who intimately identify with their environment, who become landscapes themselves. Art imitates life, and vice versa!
