Through the Values Mural initiative, Emmanuel Mushy and Nazir Atul offer young school children in Tanzania the opportunity to use art as a vehicle for experiential learning and inclusive education. In collaboration with St. Joseph’s Primary School, the project holds of a range of dialogues that encourage pupils to reflect on their personal values, hopes and fears, as well as the connection to their school’s values. The children then get the opportunity to creatively express their reflections through art.
Emmanuel, one of the co-founders of Visual Aided Stories (VAS) and a Changemaker finalist of the 2023 SDG Action Awards, firmly believes in the importance of creativity to meet the SDGs. The Values Mural initiative has a positive impact on the well-being and education of the children involved and helps build their sense of democratic participation, therefore supporting SDGs 3, 4 & 16.
