Since 2005 GCAP has mobilized hundreds of millions of people for poverty eradication and global justice. GCAP is a network of over 11,000 civil society organisations (CSOs) organized in 58 National Coalitions and in constituency groups. Since 25 September 2017, GCAP in cooperation with the UN SDG Action Campaign has initiated the Global Day of Action Act4SDGs, which became the week of Action to demand the implementation of the SDGs. GCAP together with 21 civil society partners, organized the first global People’s Assembly in New York on 24-25 September 2019 in parallel with the UN SDG Summit to galvanize the marginalized voices and 19 national People’s Assemblies in September 2021. During the Global Week of Action 2021 GCAP will organise local and national level virtual People’s Assemblies in at least 25 countries to deliberate policy asks in a bottom-up process during the COVID-19 pandemic – to mobilise for debt relief, universal social protection, vaccine for all and other demands together with marginalized people – including multiple discriminated women, persons with disabilities, person discriminated by work and descent, indigenous people. Their voices will be represented in the Global People’s Assembly during the UN General Assembly.
