Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP)

Since 2005 GCAP has mobilized hundreds of millions of people for poverty eradication and global justice. GCAP is a network of over 11,000 civil society organisations (CSOs) organized in 58 National Coalitions and in constituency groups. Since 25 September 2017, GCAP in cooperation with the UN SDG Action Campaign has initiated the Global Day of Action, which became the week of Action to demand the implementation of the SDGs. GCAP together with 21 civil society partners, organized the first global People’s Assembly in New York on 24-25 September 2019 in parallel with the UN SDG Summit to galvanize the marginalized voices. In September 2020 as part of the Global Week of Action GCAP organizes local and national level virtual People’s Assemblies in at least 20 countries and the virtual Global Assembly on 18-19 September 2020 to deliberate policy asks in a bottom-up process during the COVID-19 pandemic – to mobilise for debt relief, universal social protection, vaccine for all and other demands together with marginalized people.
