Commemoration of International Peace Day 2018 “Health as an important catalyst for Peace-Building”

Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi is going to celebrate International Peace Day on the theme of "Health as an important catalyst for peace" on 25th of September, 2018 and to celebrate 3rd Anniversary of SDGs, Global Action Day and to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Universal Decleration of Human Rights. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21st September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and people. Each year the officials of the United Nations decide upon a theme for the Day on the basis of issues of concern. The theme for the International Day of Peace in 2018 is “The Right to Peace - The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70” ITA is going to celebrate International Peace Day with the theme of “Health as an important catalyst for Peace building” on 25th of September, 2018. ITA chose “Health” because one’s health is quite important to live a healthy life, decision making, self-grooming, stress management etc. Along with this, 25 September 2018 marks the third anniversary of the adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals- SDGs. To mark this historic event, this Global Day of Action will bring together individuals in every corner of the world to take action for the SDGs: to end poverty and inequalities, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. Pakistan is one of the signatory countries for promoting SDGs and achieving 2030 agenda. ( “We believe that SDGs agenda for development isn’t an international agenda for development; it is our own agenda. It reflects our ambition and desire to give our people better quality life. Therefore, we must take ownership of SDGs with complete devotion and passion, said Mr. Ahsan Iqbal – Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms” The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development committed to fostering peaceful and inclusive societies and affirmed that “Sustainable development cannot be realized without peace and security”

ITA's 5-Year Strategic Goal:

Article 25A. The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.

SDG 4. Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
