The UN Youth Delegate (UNYD) program is one significant way how UN member states can honour their commitment to include more young people in the political processes. In short, the UNYD program has two aims i.) including youth representatives in a country’s official delegation to different UN-mandated conferences, meetings and events, and ii.) having young people bring the topics treated at the UN level closer to their peers in their respective countries. Some countries only have a pair of young delegates accompanying them to the UN General Assembly and various functional Commissions of the Economic and Social Council, others expanded the program and involve youth delegates at the High Level Political Forum, or the Conference of the Parties.
