Play For Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

25 September marks the historic adoption of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and of the Sustainable Development Goals, a plan to end poverty, hunger, inequalities whilst tackling climate change, gender equality and other key sustainable objectives. On this day Living Green Cameroon will be joining the international community in taking concrete actions, expanding ideas, and ensuring the SDGs deliver on their promise of a more just and sustainable world. Organizing SDG Action Campaign, Living Green Cameroon will use the power of soccer to bring people together to celebrate the third anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals at the Kumba Central Soccer Field (Government Practicing School) South West Region, Cameroon. Over 5000 people are expected to turn up for the event. Soccer match between Kumba Artist FC vs Mbonge Road FC focus on accelerating progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Kickoff time 1PM, 90 minute play time. Players will be introduced to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to get them engaged and each goal scored will be dedicated to the 17 Development Goals as a sign of commitment toward youth participation in achieving the Global Goals.  The soccer match will follow by live music performance from 7 of the most popular artist in the region (Big G Baba 1, General Toxiz, T-Mac, Queen Kellie, Nani B, K-Square, Prince Razz B, and Toshi de la Gare).   Radio: Radio SDG Action Campaign aims to sweep communities via radio waves. SDGs Entertaining and informative scripts that will begin on the 15th – 24th September 2018 at Ocean City Radio from 4:00pm -5:30pm daily to increase public awareness of the SDGs among citizens and all stakeholders. This will also be another big opportunity to invites everyone via radio waves to join us on 25 September 2018 and take action for a sustainable development. For the SDGs to be achieved, everyone needs to take Action. Our mission is to bring SDGS to life in Cameroon by bringing young women and men together to drive action, raise awareness and hold leaders to account in order to accelerate progress to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At Living Green Cameroon, we recognize the important role sport play’s in developing life skills, from enhancing economic opportunities to improving employability, reducing violence and promoting inclusion. We are proud to team up and #ACT4SDGs in close collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, Ministry of Social Affairs, Delegation of Youth and Sport, Women Empowerment Center, Presbyterian Rehabilitation Community Center, Community Development Specialization Training School and Youth to ensure that young women and men from one community to another have accessible safe spaces to participate, learn, engage and strive. This effort is part of our larger strategy of using the power of sports to #act4SDGs. Living Green Cameroon provides the basic tools, resources and platform to enable vulnerable Children/Young people unlock their potentials and develop the skills necessary to achieve it, and to champion grassroots action to Sustainable Development.
